Why TIKKA timber-frame saunas instead of plain spruce?

TIKKA garden sauna – solid shell with insulated timber-frame construction

01

Insulated timber frame instead of solid log walls

A TIKKA sauna wall is a frame of certified C24 timber, 100 mm of mineral wool, an aluminium-faced vapour barrier and a ventilated cavity. This build-up achieves a U-value of about 0.35 W/m²K – it heats up faster and loses several times less heat than the 45 mm spruce log wall offered by most of the market.

02

Thermory® thermowood instead of raw pine

The facade and interior are made of Finnish Thermory® thermowood, thermally modified at 215 °C. The process halves the equilibrium moisture content and removes the sugars fungi feed on – with no chemical treatment whatsoever. The boards stay dimensionally stable for decades and develop a refined silver-grey patina over time.

Harvia Cilindro heater with stones inside a TIKKA sauna

03

A heater calculated for the build, not picked from a catalogue

We size the heater from the cabin volume and glazing of the specific build. As standard we fit a Harvia Cilindro 9 kW or a HUUM DROP with Wi-Fi control, and for plots without a 400 V supply we prepare wood-fired versions with a certified roof flue penetration.

  • The crew arrived at eight, by ten the sauna stood on the slab and that same evening we had our first session. No improvising – everything was settled at the quotation stage.

    Michał S.Poznań, Poland · Maata
  • The vestibule was the best decision in the whole configuration. In winter we change in the warm and never have to step straight out into the frost.

Anna and Paweł D.Kraków, Poland · Vetta
  • The sauna reaches 90 °C even in freezing weather, despite the large glass front. The garden view during a session is exactly why we bought it.

    Familie WeberRosenheim, Germany · Maata
  • They walked us through the paperwork and the foundation step by step. We had the dimensioned floor plan before we even signed the contract.

    Tomáš H.Brno, Czechia · Vetta
  • Our guesthouse needed a sauna for eight people and a reinforced roof. Design, documentation and installation – one company, one point of responsibility.

Jozef M.Tatras, Slovakia · Custom design
  • After two seasons the thermowood facade looks like it did on installation day, only the tone has grown more refined.

Frequently asked questions

Does a TIKKA garden sauna need planning permission?

Thresholds differ by country: in Poland a notification usually suffices up to 35 m², in Czechia and Slovakia small buildings up to 25 m² are exempt, and German rules depend on the federal state. Our guide covers all four markets in detail.

What electrical supply is required?

9 kW heaters need a three-phase 400 V supply with 3×16 A protection. For plots with 230 V only, we offer heaters up to 4.5 kW or wood-fired versions.

How do I prepare the site for installation?

A level foundation is enough – a concrete slab or properly compacted paving – plus access for the crane truck within 8 m of the final position.

How long does an order take?

Typically 6–8 weeks from confirming the configuration. The sauna arrives in one piece, ready to connect – your first session is possible 24 h after unloading.

Can I order a sauna in a non-catalogue size?

Yes. Within a custom design we adapt the length, interior layout and glazing. We also prepare documentation for B2B clients: hotels, guesthouses and developers.
